    Jump rope warm-up for sprinters/runners

3 Good reasons to use jump rope to improve running

    1. Multi-planar ground contacts strengthen and activate the foot and ankle complex.

    2. Jump rope assists in learning a faster dorsiflexion (pulling the toes towards the shin)

    3. The arm action of the jump roping activates the core to support the foot and ankle

Overall, the runner who spends the least time on the ground will be the fastest. That is the goal with jump rope exercises for runners.

Movement Skill Exercise: Single leg hops

Movement skills establish a foundation for healthy and successful long-term athletic development. Single leg hop is a basic movement skill and an excellent exercise in improving running, jumping, landing and change of direction.

Multi-planar hops prepare the movement system for task-specific sport situations by improving balance, coordination, agility, speed and ground contact biomechanics.

You can't go wrong with single leg hops!
